Team Leaders
Team Leader Criteria & Classifications Program

The aim of this program is to produce knowledgeable and well-trained TEAM LEADERS who use their expertise to service our National Teams with efficiency to assist them to produce their best results. This classification system was devised to provide a logical, fair and progressive qualification process which will aid and enhance the development of each individual manager. All requirements for "Administrator" and "Competition Director" must have been met within the last 4 years. All "Official" requirements must be currently licensed. All "International Team Leader" positions must have been within the last 3 quadrenniums.
Categories of International events:
- Major International Events: Olympic Games, Pan Am Games, Senior World Championships, Junior World Championships and Grand Prix Events
- Minor International Events: Pan Am Championships, Junior Pan Am Championships, 23-Under Championships, World Student Games, Young Louis Cyr and others TBD
LEVEL ONE:
Entry Requirements: Applicant must meet at least one criteria from below.
- LWC officer
- LWC competition director
- active LWC official
LEVEL TWO:
Entry Requirements: Applicant must be a Club Coach or higher plus at least two of the following criteria must be met.
- National officer
- National competition director
- National official
- Team Leader or coach a registered USA Weightlifting team with 5 or more active competitors at a national level competition
Team Leader Assignments:
- Eligible for minor international events
LEVEL THREE:
Entry Requirements: Applicant must be a Senior Coach or higher plus meet two (2) criteria from below.
- National officer
- National or international competition director
- International referee II
- Team Leader of at least two minor international events
Team Leader Assignments:
- Eligible for major international events
- Eligible for minor international events
- Eligible for nomination to USA Weightlifting Team Leader's committee
LEVEL FOUR:
Entry Requirements: Candidates must meet both criteria
- International referee I or II
- Team Leader of at least three or more major or minor international events
Team Leader Assignments:
- Eligible for Senior and Junior Worlds
- Eligible for major and minor international events
- Eligible for nomination to USA Weightlifting Team Leader's Committee
LEVEL FIVE:
Entry Requirements: Candidates must meet both criteria
- Manager of Senior or Junior Worlds
- Manager of at least three or more major or minor international events
Team Leader Assignments:
- Eligible for Olympic and Pan Am Games
- Eligible for Senior and Junior Worlds
- Eligible for major and minor international events
- Eligible for nomination to USA Weightlifting Team Leader Committee
