2009 U.S. Olympic Assembly and Olympic SportsLink. Rick Adams, CEO of USA Weightlifting, aims to generate interest in the hosting of USA Weightlifting's national events at the 2009 Olympic SportsLink, held this week in conjunction with the U.S. Olympic Assembly in Chicago. The annual event of the United States Olympic Committee brings together the various constituents of the Olympic Family, as well as individuals and organizations associated with the Olympic Movement in the United States, to encourage communication, collaboration and to create new initiatives on supporting the Olympic Movement. Olympic SportsLink is designed to provide opportunities to create strategic partnerships between NGBs and cities, sports commissions, convention and visitors' bureaus and other public and non-profit organizations interested in Olympic sport and hosting Olympic Team Trials events and NGB Championship events. Cities attending will gain a better understanding of the events available for bidding and their potential impact on host communities. The 2nd Annual Olympic SportsLink focused on finding host cities for some of the 40 plus U.S. Olympic Team Trials and Exhibition events expected to take place leading up to the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Potential host cities and organizations met directly with National Governing Bodies to discuss opportunities to host the 2012 Trials events as well as NGB Championship events for 2010 and beyond. Attendees also participated in a series of sessions centered on best practices in the sports event industry. |
