2011 National School Age Weightlifting Championships Awarded to Gainesville, Georgia

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Weightlifting is pleased to announce that the 2011 National School Age Weightlifting Championships will be held in Gainesville, Ga.

The event, which includes more than 300 competitors ages 17 and younger annually, will be held at the Georgia Mountain Center in June on a date to be announced.

“The National School Age Weightlifting Championships is one USA Weightlifting’s largest events and the premier competition for young up-and-coming weightlifters in the United States,” said CEO Rick Adams.  “We’re looking forward to coming to Gainesville and giving fans a chance to see our top young athletes compete.”

Gainesville was the site of the 2008 National School Age Weightlifting Championships.

 “We are excited for the event to come back to Gainesville,” said Meet Director CJ Stockel (Gainesville, Ga.)  “Team Georgia Weightlifting is proud to be able to hold these types of championships to promote the growth of weightlifting in Georgia and the Southeast.”
