USA Weightlifting Announces Coaching Staff for World Championships

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Weightlifting is pleased to announce the coaching staff for the World Championships that will be held from Sept. 17-26 in Antalya, Turkey.

Kyle Pierce (Shreveport, La.), the head men’s coach from the 2010 Pan American Championship Team that competed in Guatemala in May, will return to lead the men in Turkey.

Bob Morris (Colorado Springs, Colo.) will be the head women’s coach for the second straight Worlds after coaching the women in 2009.

Joe Micela (Mesa, Ariz.), the assistant coach for the 2009 World Team, will serve as the Team Leader this year.

A new addition to the USA Weightlifting staff, 1972 Olympic Champion Zygmunt Smalcerz (Colorado Springs, Colo.) became the head coach of the Olympic Training Center in July and also will accompany the team to Turkey.
