Olympic and World Team Members to Compete at American Open in Mobile, Dec. 11-13

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) - Nearly 200 weightlifters, including members of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team and 2009 Senior World Team, will compete at the American Open in Mobile, Ala. from Dec. 11-13. 

"USA Weightlifting looks forward to bringing the strongest athletes in the world to Mobile," said USA Weightlifting CEO Rick Adams (Colorado Springs, Colo.)  "The fans will be able to see future Olympic athletes and many of the best weightlifters America has to offer."

Among the athletes scheduled to participate in the event are 2009 Senior World Team member Sarah Davis (Rincon, Ga.) and two-time Olympian Chad Vaughn (Norman, Okla.) who will be competing in his first competition since Beijing.

Competition will be held at the Mobile Civic Center Arena, 401 Civic Center Dr. 

Competition will begin each day at 10 a.m. The final lifting schedule will be available after the Technical Meeting on Thursday evening, December 10th. The tentative lifting schedule is below:

Friday December 11
10 a.m. Women's 48kg and 53kg divisions

12:30 p.m. Men's 56kg and 62kg divisions

3 p.m. Women's 58kg division

5 p.m. Men's 69kg division

7 p.m. Women's 63kg division

Saturday December 12
10 a.m. Men's 77kg division

12:30 p.m. Women's 69kg division

3 p.m. Men's 85kg division

5 p.m. Women's 75kg division

7 p.m. Men's 94kg division

Sunday December 13
10 a.m. Women's +75kg division

2 p.m. Men's 105kg division

4 p.m. Men's +105kg division
