Hilary Katzenmeier Places 12th at the World Championships in Goyang, Korea

Jackie Berube (left) will compete on Wednesday in the 63kg division. Hilary Katzenmeier placed 12th on Monday at 58kg.

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) - Hilary Katzenmeier (Shreveport, La.) placed 12th in the 58kg division at the World Championships in Goyang, Korea on Monday.   

A member of the 2008 Junior World Championship Team, this is Katzenmeier's first Senior World event and the 21-year-old lifted a total of 179kg, including 81kg in the snatch and 98kg in the clean & jerk.  

Competition continues on Tuesday with the men's 77kg division.  Lance Frye (Moorestown, N.J.) was scheduled to represent Team USA, but will not be participating in the World Championships. 

Jacquelynn Berube (Colorado Springs, Colo.) will compete on Wednesday in the 63kg division.  A 2005 Pan American Champion who has twice placed in the top seven at the World Championships at 58kg, Berube will be competing at the Worlds for the first time in the 63kg division.
