Kelly Rexroad Places 11th at World Championships

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) - Competing for the first time at the Senior World Championships, Kelly Rexroad (Atlanta, Ga.) placed 11^th in the 48kg division on Saturday in Goyang, Korea. 

A weightlifting prodigy as a teenager who won the Senior Nationals as a 17-year-old in 1995 and earned a Junior World bronze the following year, 31-year-old Rexroad's results on Saturday were personal bests with lifts of 72kg in the snatch and 88kg in the clean and jerk. 

Lifting a total of 160kg, Rexroad had clean performances on each of her lifts, going six-for-six on her attempts.

Rexroad's teammate Stacy Suyama (Torrance, Calif.) also was scheduled to compete in the 48kg division, but withdrew from the event.  

The 62kg division also concluded on Saturday.  Aaron Adams (Shreveport, La.), who lifted in the Group C pool of the division on Friday, placed 28^th when the overall standings were announced.

Competition continues on Sunday when Caleb Williams (Duluth, Ga.) and Henry Brower (Bloomingdale, Ga.) compete in the 69kg division.  Sarah Davis (Rincon, Ga.) will compete in the 53kg division.
