Nominating Governance Committee In response to questions regarding the subsequent Nominating Governance Committee, the two slots that will be coming open are the result of a request by the USOC's original committee members to step down.  Bob Giordano, Chair of the USAW Judicial Committee, is also stepping down.

USAW members Jim Schmitz and Danica Rue have agreed to remain on the committee, Danica as the Athlete Rep and Jim as Chair, appointed by the NGC.  The membership is being asked to nominate replacements for two

of the three slots under the Bylaws, section 8.12, to be voted on by the Board of Directors.  The final spot will be filled by one individual from the outgoing Board of Directors later this year, in accordance with 8.12. b. v. .  The USOC will no longer be serving on this committee.

In accordance with 8.12 b. of the USAW Bylaws, the Nominating and Governance Committee (NGC) is required to elect one independent member and one USAW member, nominations and voting to be facilitated by e-mail.  USAW members interested in self-nominating for the NGC may submit a statement of interest and short bio to governance@usaweightlifting.org.  Please refer to Section 8.12 of the USA Weightlifting Bylaws for additional information, including the responsibilities and requirements of candidates for the NGC. The deadline for nominations has been extended to March 5, 2010.

In summary, the NGC positions are being filled in accordance with the USAW Bylaws Section 8.12 b. i. iii. and v. .
