2010 International Calendar and Qualifying Procedures

1)  IWF Youth Olympic Pan Am Qualification- April 20-24, 2010  PERU
      8 Men / 7 Women: Self-funded

Primary/Mandatory-  2010 National Junior Championships, Rochester, MN, 2/26-28

Secondary/Initial-     2009 American Open*, Mobile, AL, 12/11-13 OR
                               2009 U-17 Pan Am Championships*, CHILE, 9/13-20 OR
                               2009 American Open Exempt Division* for top-ranked 20 men and 20 women athletes from the 2009 U-17 Pan Am Championships ranking list and born in 1993 or later.

*(Sub 17 athletes also competing in the American Open must choose 1 - Declaration form must be submitted to the National Office 1 week before the 2009 American Open Championships.)

2)  Junior World Championships (JWC)- June 1-30, 2010  BULGARIA (exact dates TBA)
     8 Men / 7 Women: Self-funded

Primary/Mandatory-   2010 National Junior Championships, Rochester, MN, 2/26-28     

Secondary/Initial-      2009 U-17 Pan American Championships*, CHILE, 9/13-20  
                                2009 Quebec Jr. Championships*, CANADA, 11/28/09 OR
                                2009 American Open* , Mobile, AL, 12/11-13 OR

 *(Quebec Jr. and U-17 athletes also competing in the American Open must choose 1 - Declaration form must be submitted to the National Office 1 week before the Quebec Junior Championship)   

3)  2^nd World University Championships (WUC)- July 1-5, 2010  TAIPEI
      8 Men / 7 Women: Self-funded

Primary/Mandatory-  2010 National Collegiate Championships

Secondary/Initial-      1) 2009 Quebec Jr. Championships*, CANADA, 11/28  OR
                                2) 2009 American Open*, Mobile, AL, 12/11-13 OR
                                3) 2010 National Junior Championships*, Rochester, MN, 2/26-28

*(must choose 1 - Quebec Jr athletes must submit Declaration form to the National Office 1 week before the Quebec Junior Championships.  AO athletes choosing between AO and NJ must submit declaration form to the National Office 1 week prior to the American Open.  In the absence of Declaration form, above-listed priority order of secondary qualifying events will apply.)   

4) Pan American Championships - May 20-23, Guatemala
    8 Men / 7 Women: USA Weightlifting Funded

Primary/Mandatory -  2010 National Juniors/Special PA Qualifying Event, 2/26-28

Secondary/Initial -     2009 World Championships*, Goyang City, KOR, 11/17-27 OR
                                2009 American Open*, Mobile, AL, 12/11-13  

*(must choose 1 - Declaration form must be submitted to the National Office 1 week before the 2009 World Championships)

5)  Youth Olympic Games (YOG) - August 14-26, 2010   SINGAPORE
      1 Woman: USOC Funded

Primary/Mandatory-   2010 National School Age Championships, Foster City, CA, 6/25-27

Secondary/Initial-      2010 National Junior Championships*, Rochester, MN, 2/26-28 OR
                                    IWF Youth Olympic Pan Am Qualification Event*

*(must choose 1 - Declaration form must be submitted to the National Office 1 week before the 2009 IWF Youth Olympic Pan Am Qualifying event)

6)  World Championships (WC)- September 18-30, 2010   TURKEY
     8 Men / 7 Women: USA Weightlifting Funded

Primary/Mandatory-    2010 National Championships*, Peoria, IL, 6/11-13 OR
                                 2010 Pan American Championships*, GUATEMALA, 5/20-23        

Secondary/Initial-       2009 American Open, Mobile, AL, 12/11-13
