Personal: Bertram began weightlifting in 1999 as a high school student to improve her performance in track and field where she threw the javelin and discus.  Within four years she qualified for her first U.S. Team at the Junior Pan American Championships.  Having accomplished her goal of qualifying for a World Team with personal bests in 2009, Bertram has her sights set on competing at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
